Bandung Sea of Fire🔥

Bandung Sea of Fire

Bandung as the Sea of Fire was a fire that occurred in the town of Bandung on 24 March 1946. About 200,000 Bandung residents burned their homes within seven hours.

British soldiers arrived in Bandung as part of the MacDonald Brigade on October 12, 1945.
Bandung was intentionally burned by TRI and local people.

There was black smoke floating high in the air everywhere. The British Army began to attack so
ferociously. The biggest battle took place in the
village of Dayeuh Kolot, in South Bandung, where there was a large ammunition depot belonging to
the British.

In this battle, Barisan Rakyat Indonesia destroyed the ammunition store. The Bandung fire strategy was considered because the power of the TRI and the people's militia was not comparable to the British forces and the NICA. This incident led to the creation of the famous song “Halo, Halo Bandung”.
